Thompson Health’s Spirit of Women program is hosting a fun-filled event called Girls’ Night Out to inspire women to take charge of their health. Set for Saturday, Oct. 1, Girls’ Night Out will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Finger Lakes Community College, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua.


Health screenings will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., including a brown bag medication review, purse-weighing station, digital mammogram scheduling, answers to your health insurance questions and free chair massages. Some of the vendors include Sweet Expressions, New York New York, Silk Creations by Prudy Whitehead & Len Brondum and Embrace Your Sisters, with more being added each day.


There will also be pampering and light refreshments from 6 to 8 p.m., comedy by humorist Reneé Rongen from 8 to 9 p.m. and prize drawings, cookies and coffee from 9 to 10 p.m.


“Girls’ Night Out provides an opportunity for women to come together in a trusted healthcare environment for information presented in a fun way,” says Jeanna Savage, director of Spirit of Women at Thompson Health.  “Girls’ Night Out is gaining momentum with over 65 hospitals in cities all over the U.S. working toward the same goal – enlightening, inspiring and empowering women to take action over their health and the health of their families.”


Girls’ Night Out is sponsored by the Spirit of Women with additional support from Good Housekeeping Magazine. The cost of the event is $10 for Spirit members and $15 for non-members.
