The Wellness Department at Thompson Health, in conjunction with the School Food Independence Committee, will host a community dinner on Friday, Nov. 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Bloomfield High School cafeteria, 1 Oakmount Ave., Bloomfield.

“This will be an upscale meal to gather community members together, and to showcase the Bloomfield food service department and local foods,” says Bloomfield Food Service Director Todd Fowler. Local foods are gathered from local farms “at their peak of available nutrition” and can “help reduce our carbon footprint,” he says.

The dinner will include short rib stew with buckwheat biscuits, carved roast beef, potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cabbage, relish trays and dessert.

This event precedes the Bloomfield Drama Club’s performance of “The Matchmaker,” a classic farce by Thorton Wilder, which begins at 7 p.m.

The dinner is open to the public and tickets are on sale in all Bloomfield school offices and will be available for purchase at the door. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens and free for children ages 4 and under. For more information, contact Fowler at (585) 657-6121 x1151.
