CANANDAIGUA – A Thompson Health associate received the R. Randall Farnsworth Award at the United Way of Ontario County’s recent Volunteer Recognition Dinner, held at the Ramada Geneva Lakefront.

Kathy Perry-Ernisse was honored for going above and beyond in organizing Thompson’s 2012 United Way campaign, which raised more than $44,400, a 142-percent increase over the 2011 total raised within the health system.

The Springwater resident, who works as an office manager within the health system, was described by United Way of Ontario County Executive Director Rhoda Childs as “a consummate team player who also took personal initiative when needed to get the job done.”

“Kathy somehow conveys a bond with any effort she undertakes or assignments she is given and gives fully to it. She worked very hard this year, as she does every year, and the results definitely showed,” Childs said. She noted that Perry-Ernisse not only promoted the one-month campaign within the health system but assisted in organizing its raffle and unique silent art auction as well as United Way presentations to some 30 departments.

Also at the June 21 United Way dinner, Thompson Health was named a Cornerstone Account for raising more than $30,000 during its United Way campaign, which also resulted in the donation of a truckload of food.

“If you really want to know how to run a successful campaign, all you need to do is copy Thompson Health’s strategies,” Childs said.
