The American Red Cross and Thompson Health are teaming up to offer “Family Caregiving,” a free series for individuals in the community who are caring for older adults in their homes.
The four-part series is supported by the Thompson Guild and is open to the public. Caregivers may choose to attend as many or as few of the evening programs as they want.
The series kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 28, with “Caring for the Caregiver with Complementary Medicine,” presented at 6:30 p.m. by Nancy Benton from The BodyMind Center in Canandaigua. The BodyMind Center offers complementary medicine not as an alternative to traditional medicine, but as a supportive, supplemental form of care, promoting health and wellness. Eamer will discuss treatments such as reiki, acupuncture, chiropractic medicine, massage therapy, healing touch, aroma therapy and cranio sacral therapy, plus how these services may help the caregiver.
The remaining schedule is as follows, with each program running from 6:30 to 8 p.m.:
All “Family Caregiving” programs will be held at the West Ontario County Office of the American Red Cross, located at 5297 Parkside Drive, across from the Tom Wahl’s Canandaigua location.
Refreshments will be served at each session. RSVPs are appreciated and may be made by calling 585-394-2260.
