Emergency Physician

Status: Part-Time / Full-Time
Shift: Day/Eve/Nights

Main Function:

Responsible for the medical evaluation, treatment initiation and coordination of a follow up treatment plan for Emergency Department patients.  Provides high quality patient care in a caring and professional manner.

Required Job Specific Competencies: 

Demonstrates flexibility in prioritizing patient and department needs.  Maintains and demonstrates knowledge base in all areas of Emergency Medicine including knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.  Must have the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s age and functional status and interpret each patient’s requirements relative to specific needs.  Communicates effectively with staff, patients and families. Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.  Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.

Lives the CARES values at all times.

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree

Education:  

  • Board Certification or residency completion in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine required.
  • Current New York State License and certification. 
  • Current DEA registration certificate. 
  • ACLS and ATLS certification (or equivalent).

Experience:

  • Prior post-training emergency department experience required if not Emergency Medicine residency trained.

Family Practice Physician

Status: Full Time
Shift: Day/Eve

Main Function:

Provides clinical family medicine services and associated administrative and on-call services to Thompson Family Practice patients.

  • Provides consistent, high quality, evidence-based care.
  • Leads office staff in development and performance of efficient office practices.
  • Liaisons with practice management and hospital administration on behalf of the practice.
  • Liaisons with staff on behalf of practice management and hospital administration.
  • Fosters a cohesive Thompson Family Practice group identity.
  • Assures regulatory compliance by providers.
  • Provides patient management and practice leadership that unifies Thompson Family Practice goals with health system goals.
  • Always puts the needs of the patient first.
  • Assists the health system in meeting strategic goals.

Required Job Specific Competencies: 

  • Recognized competence in outpatient clinical family medicine practice.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all office staff and providers.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with hospital and health system medical leaders.
  • Lead a patient centered practice.
  • Knowledge of recognized best family medicine patient care practices.
  • Ability to attend to routine and emergent perinatal care of newborns and routine hospital care of pediatric patients (unless specifically exempted).
  • Maintains current knowledge of and ability to institute programs necessary to comply with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Consistent excellence in physician-patient and physician-staff communications.
  • Exhibits leadership skills and professional behavior consistently.
  • Actively guards confidential and protected information.
  • Maintains open door policy that solicits input and feedback from associates and customers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge necessary to ensure care appropriate to the age of the patient.

  • Generates legible, comprehensive patient care records sufficient for all patient care, regulatory, billing and other uses of the medical record.
  • Responsible for ensuring all professional licenses, registrations, liability insurance education and renewal requirements and applicable physician certifications are up to date and current.

Qualifications:

  • Unrestricted NYS medical license with current registration required.
  • DEA license required.
  • Board-certified in Family Medicine required.  Board-eligibility within the first three years of graduation from an ACGME-approved Family Medicine residency program acceptable.
  • Able to gain appropriate FFTH Medical Staff privileges.
  • Acceptable professional liability insurance experience such that physician is acceptable for malpractice insurance by FFTH’s malpractice carrier without surcharge.

Education:    

  • MD degree required.
  • Completion of ACGME-certified residency in Family Medicine required.
  • Meets continuing education requirements of the American Board of Family Medicine for maintenance of certification required.

Experience:

  • Three years post-graduate residency training in Family Medicine – required.


Hospitalist

Status: Full Time/Per Diem
Shift: Day/Eve/Night

Responsibilities:

Provides medical care on a continuous basis for non-assigned patients admitted to the hospitalist service and provides medical consultations on inpatients at the request of other specialties.  Establishes and maintains good communication and working relationships with members of the hospitalist staff, nursing staff, case management and other hospital departments. Collaborates with referring primary care physicians.  Accepts and manages patients in the Intensive Care Unit on the hospitalist service or on consultation.   On-site coverage hours include weekdays and appropriate coverage on weekends.  On-call coverage to be divided among the hospitalist service team. Works to promote the utilization of all Thompson Health services.  The Hospitalist physician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to adult patients served in a hospital inpatient setting.  The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and to the care needed.  The physician must have knowledge of, and exhibit documentation within guidelines for, patient specific information for the medical record, daily charge sheets for visits, and prescriptive requisitions.  Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with hospitalist staff, House Staff PAs/NPs, nursing staff, partnering physicians, case managers, medical specialists, management and administration. Exhibits leadership skills through active involvement in process improvements leading to delivery and maintenance of quality services while striving to achieve financial viability of the hospitalist program. Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.  Lives the CARES values at all times.

Requirements:

  • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, with interest/training in Intensive Care Medicine. Will consider candidates BC/BE Family Practice.
  • NYS Licensure and current Registration Required
  • DEA Licensure Required

Education:

•    Graduation from an accredited Medical School Required (M.D. or D.O.)
•    Completion of Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine Required
•    Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 Coding Preferred
•    Maintains CME per requirements for Board Certification
