    <title>Crosswinds 5K Set for Sept. 1</title>

    <description>CANANDAIGUA &amp;ndash; The 11th annual Crosswinds 5K will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, to benefit patients of the Sands Cancer Center at F.F. Thompson Hospital.
Runners of all ages are invited to participate in this event, which is hosted by the Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Road in Canandaigua. Its certified course &amp;ndash; with computerized race results &amp;ndash; starts and finishes at Crosswinds. Runner check-in and registration is from 7 to 8:45 a.m., with a 9 a.m. race start. 
The pre-registration fee is $15 ($13 for Greater Rochester Track Club members) and the fee on the day of the race is $20 ($15 for GRTC members). T-shirts are guaranteed to all runners pre-registered by Aug. 16.&amp;nbsp; 
Awards will be given to top three finishers in each age group, and post-race refreshments will be provided.&amp;nbsp; After the race, participants are welcome to relax with family and friends and view pictures and video of the race on a large screen.

    <description>CANANDAIGUA - Thompson Health announces a call for applications for the 2012 fall cycle of Mary Clark Thompson Health Grants. All local not-for-profit organizations whose programs enhance community health and wellness are encouraged to apply for funding through this opportunity offered by the F.F. Thompson Foundation.
 
The Mary Clark Thompson Health Grant program issues grants bi-annually in the spring and fall, enabling the Foundation to invest directly in projects and organizations that care for the community. Individual projects may receive grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 annually based on grant applications and the following criteria: 
 
 &amp;bull; Benefit to the health status of the community
&amp;bull; Plan, goal and time frame
 
&amp;bull; Financial need
&amp;bull; Commitment to community partnering
&amp;bull; Alignment with Thompson Health&amp;rsquo;s mission
&amp;nbsp;
 
For those interested in applying for the fall 2012 grant cycle, the application deadline is Sept. 14, 2012. Applications are available by visiting the F.F. Thompson Foundation area of the Thompson Health website, www.thompsonhealth.com, or by calling (585) 396-6155.</description>
