    <title>Thompson Guild Partnership Promotes Child Safety</title>
    <link>http://www.thompsonhealth.com/AboutbrThompsonHealth/AboutThompsonHealth/NewsRoom/PressReleases/tabid/215/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/301/Thompson-Guild-Partnership-Promotes-Child-Safety.aspx</link>
    <description>CANANDAIGUA &amp;ndash; In partnership with the Ontario County Safety Council and the American Red Cross, the Thompson Guild recently launched a new child safety program called ICE (In Case of Emergency).&amp;nbsp;
At child safety seat checks throughout the county, Ontario County sheriff&amp;rsquo;s deputies and other certified car seat technicians are handing out sticker sets that were provided by the Guild. These stickers give peace of mind to parents who want to ensure that their children receive the best possible care in an emergency.
The sticker sets are also being distributed to new parents through The Birthing Center at Thompson Hospital.
One sticker, attached to the car seat, contains all of the child&amp;rsquo;s pertinent health information and can be used by first responders and hospital personnel when the driver of the car has been in an accident and is unable to communicate. The second sticker in the set is a bright yellow sticker that is affixed to the outside of the car window nearest the car seat to alert emergency responders that the information is available.
For a list of upcoming child safety seat checks, visit www.co.ontario.ny.us and click on the link to the left of the screen for the Ontario County Sheriff&amp;rsquo;s Office page. To schedule an appointment for a seat inspection, call the sheriff&amp;rsquo;s Civil Office at (585) 396-4666.&amp;nbsp;
ICE materials may be obtained by contacting the Ontario County Sheriff&amp;rsquo;s Office at the above number or the Canandaigua Police Department at (585) 396-5035.

    <description>CANANDAIGUA &amp;ndash; As he recruits chaplain&amp;rsquo;s volunteers to provide spiritual care within Thompson Health, Director of Spiritual Care Mark Henson will host an informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon in the chapel just off the main lobby of Thompson Hospital at 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.
At Thompson, spirituality is defined in the broadest and most universal terms possible: that which gives meaning or purpose and belonging or connection to each person. In this light, the health system&amp;rsquo;s Spiritual Care program seeks to support each of our patients, residents, clients and their loved ones in a way that is meaningful and helpful to him or her.
Chaplain&amp;rsquo;s volunteers at Thompson receive training in a four-year cycle of subjects. By the end of their training, they are able to:
&amp;middot;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Compassionately communicate&amp;nbsp; and empathize with associates, patients, residents and their families
&amp;middot;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Pray in a meaningful way with associates, patients, residents and their families
&amp;middot;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Give appropriate spiritual and emotional support in medical crises
&amp;middot;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Have a basic understanding of the nature of dementia, Alzheimer&amp;rsquo;s, congestive heart failure and cancer
&amp;middot;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Understand the effects of stress in people&amp;rsquo;s lives in the midst of medical crises
&amp;middot;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Give spiritual and emotional support to the dying and to families before and after death
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a chaplain&amp;rsquo;s volunteer, contact Henson at (585) 396-6486.</description>
