Over 120 cyclists from five different states converged for the 13th annual Tour de Thompson on July 25. Selecting one of three courses to participate in, riders took in scenic views of Canandaigua Lake and the Bristol Hills while raising nearly $5,000 for the Rehabilitation Services Aftercare Program at UR Medicine’s Thompson Health.
The Rehabilitation Services Aftercare Program at Thompson helps patients with chronic illnesses maintain their independence at home and within the community. The program allows patients to continue to exercise in the rehabilitation center gym or pool after completing their formal therapy in treatment for a chronic illness or injury. Working with athletic trainers and rehabilitation aides ensures patients will continue to maintain their strength and wellness once their formal rehabilitation has ended.
“This event is a great opportunity for the community to enjoy riding in the beauty of the Finger Lakes while helping support individuals stay independent in our community.” stated Dudley Hallstead, physical therapist at Thompson Health and event director for the tour. “Funds have helped many clients transition to an independent fitness program to maintain their health and wellness.”
Thank you to all of the sponsors involved in making this event possible, including lead sponsors Constellation Brands and Wegmans, and gold sponsors Seneca Foods, Lenoard’s Express, and Canandaigua Sailboard.
