Gala Nets More than $130,000 for Thompson
2016 Thompson Gala - A Lakeside Soiree
The annual Gala hosted by UR Medicine’s Thompson Health recently raised more than $125,000 to benefit upcoming renovations at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
Held Sept. 9 at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua, the sold-out event had more than 300 people in attendance, with Southern barbecue fare as well  as music by The Skycoasters.
The money raised will go toward a new, 12-bed observation unit scheduled to open at  Thompson Hospital in 2017. The unit is designed to provide high-quality, personalized care for patients who require evaluation and treatment for a period of time between eight and 24 hours, allowing the hospital to reserve inpatient and Emergency Department beds for those patients who have immediate critical needs.

Of the more than $125,000 raised at the gala, $19,000 was raised through a “cash call” benefitting the SafeGait® Balance and Mobility Training System recently installed in the Rehabilitation Services Department, also at Thompson Hospital. The SafeGait® System is a state-of-the-art, ceiling mounted support and tracking device that provides gait and balance therapy.  This equipment helps patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, and amputations regain mobility.
The F.F. Thompson Foundation is grateful to the Gala’s “Mainsail Sponsors” – Constellation Brands, Pike Company, LeCesse Construction and The Boev Clinic.
