At Thompson Health, our social workers work with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities, providing advocacy, consultation, community liaison, counseling, discharge planning, information and referral. They advocate on residents' and patients' behalf upholding their rights and maintaining their access to services and support; always promoting the dignity and worth of the person.
Social workers are a vital link with community agencies and collaborate regarding the provision and availability of services, the care needs of our customers, access and gaps in services, and the expansion/creation of services to address the needs of the customers. As counselors, they provide emotional support that is critical to adjustment to illness and loss, understanding the importance of human relationships.
Whether they are supporting a resident and family member in adjustment, arranging home care services or providing end of life care and support, Thompson’s social workers are very special and compassionate people and are part of a team of dedicated, caring professionals working with you during your visit to Thompson Health.
