The Brighter Day
Independence, with medical supervision and peace of mind

A Warm and Welcoming Environment
The Brighter Day, founded in 1989, provides adults with a safe, friendly place to stay active while receiving personal services and medical supervision.The medical adult day program is designed for those who live alone or with a caregiver. In addition to medical supervision, we provide personal care, well-balanced meals and snacks, and the opportunity to spend time with others in a secure environment while loved ones enjoy peace of mind.

Personalized Care to Suit You
Our staff meets with each new participant of The Brighter Day to assess needs and develop a program for care. Services offered may include:
  • Medical monitoring of conditions such as diabetes or dementia
  • Medication administration
  • Exercises to maintain mobility
  • Whirlpool treatments
  • Podiatry care
  • Assistance with dressing and other personal needs
  • Therapeutic recreation
  • Massage Therapy
  • On-site hair care services for men and women

Extensive Services to Meet Every Need
In addition to providing medical assistance and supervised care, The Brighter Day offers a variety of recreation and socialization opportunities, including:
  • Educational programs
  • Shopping trips and other community outings 
  • Intergenerational visits with local schoolchildren
  • Interactive video games
By spending time with other adults, participants can stay mentally alert and physically active while socializing with new friends.

A Professional Staff to Serve You
The Brighter Day’s exceptional staff specializes in making each participant feel cared for and comfortable.
  • Our clinical coordinator is a registered nurse who assesses and monitors medical conditions and communicates with physicians, as necessary.
  • Our social worker helps determine needs and provides counseling and support for participants and their family members. She also works with community agencies to secure additional services, as needed.
  • Our nutritionist and food service manager ensure that meals and snacks meet dietary needs and personal preferences.
  • Our program assistants are certified nursing assistants who provide medical treatments, personal care and recreational therapy.
  • Our receptionist can help participants make medical and dental appointments and arrange transportation as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is The Brighter Day open?
We are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Some participants come every day, and others come just a couple of times per week, depending on their schedule and needs.

What age groups are served?
While many participants are seniors, anyone age 18 or over with a medical condition that requires monitoring is welcome.

How do I apply for admission?
Call our social worker at 585-396-6646 to arrange an appointment for a pre-admission assessment.

Where is The Brighter Day located?
We are located at 30 Fort Hill Ave. in Canandaigua, just off North Main Street. Transportation can be arranged for families who are unable to provide their own.
