Sponsored by Thompson's Cardiac Rehabilitation Department and the American Heart Association, this group offers education and support for those living with heart disease. This group will this month begin a four-class series at the New York Wine & Culinary Center, focusing on the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Diet. The series is a creation of NYWCC Chef Jeff Christiano. Classes are: "An Introduction to Healthy Eating" (April 10), "Hands-On Cooking" (April 24), "Creating and Using a DASH Pantry" (May 1), and "10 Principles to Healthy Cooking" (September 11). All cardiac rehab patients - at Thompson and elsewhere - are welcome, as are those who cook for them. Each class costs $10. Sign up for an individual class for the entire series. Space is limited. Call (585) 396-6111 to register.
