On June 6, 2015, Victor Hills Golf Club was spellbound with “Pink Fly Fairies” and golfers as they joined together to raise funds for the Breast Health Navigation Program offered by UR Medicine’s Thompson Health. A combined total of $11,000 was raised between the Pink Fly Ladies Invitational and the Pink Fly Ladies Classic. More than $68,000 has been raised for breast health programs at Thompson by Pink Fly Golf since its inception 12 years ago.
“This extraordinary group of volunteers is incredibly supportive, with enthusiasm that is infectious. Our results are a direct reflection on them,” tournament organizer Nancy Alexander said. “Our participants are just as extraordinary; many of our golfers are breast cancer survivors themselves, or have been touched by cancer in some way.”
The Breast Health Navigation Program provides support and coordination assistance for a variety of services for those diagnosed with breast cancer. The navigation team offers patients immediate access to a variety of support services, providing the comfort and reassurance essential for well-being. The navigation team links patients to the appropriate professionals, coordinates follow-up appointments and manages the delivery of reports to the patient’s care team. The program is now hosted at the Dr. Laurie Sands and Constellation Brands Breast Imaging Center at 195 Parrish St.
The winning team at this year’s Pink Fly Invitational (scramble format) consisted of Margaret Cooper, Kelly Lavoie, Ellen Weeks and Deb Woleslagle. The winning team at the Pink Fly Classic (best ball format) was made up of Tara Bearer, Patty Hanavan, Stacy Michelski and Vicky Rizzolo.
A special thanks goes to all of our sponsors. Pinky’s Special Sponsors include: Bond, Schoenek & King, PLLC; Canandaigua National Bank; Guardian Industries Corporation; Lifetime Care; Monroe Wheelchair; Nixon-Peabody, LLC; Think Tank; Transilwrap; Trillium Health; and Wegmans.
