Governor David Paterson has proclaimed May 13 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State to recognize the dedicated auxilians who annually donate more than five million hours of service to their health care facilities and their communities.

At Thompson Health, our auxilians are more commonly known as The Thompson Guild. Thompson will help our Guild celebrate this special day with a brunch to honor the work and support they provide the health system throughout the year.

Patient services, wellness promotion, fundraising, advocacy activities and community outreach projects are all aspects of the Guild’s efforts to enhance Thompson’s resources and emphasize the “caring” in health care. During 2008, the Guild raised close to $125,000 to be used to purchase items for the health system such as a bone density scanner, bladder scanner, ultrasound machine, vital signs monitor for the Birthing Center and a Whisper GLIDE Swing for residents of the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center.

For more than 100 years, the Thompson Guild, a not-for-profit fundraising organization, has served the Thompson Health System and its surrounding communities. Today, the Guild has more than 150 members and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. If you are interested in becoming a Guild member, call Sue Winslow, Membership Secretary, at 585-394-5575.
