Your provider will decide whether a telehealth or in-office visit is most appropriate for your situation. Insurance companies are now covering telemedicine (online video) visits to help you maintain access to care during the pandemic.
Part of F.F. Thompson Hospital
Thompson Health's Pediatricians provide preventive health maintenance for healthy children and medical care for those children who are seriously or chronically ill. From immunizations to monitoring growth and development, from counseling on age-appropriate nutrition to guiding children and families through the potentially tumultuous phases of puberty and adolescence, prevention and health maintenance underscore every patient care interaction. Our Pediatricians work with other medical specialists and midlevel professionals to provide for the health and emotional needs of children.
Pediatricians are concerned with more than just the child’s physical well-being. They are increasingly involved with the prevention, early detection, and management of behavioral, developmental, and functional social problems that affect children and adolescents. Their skilled assessments may uncover depression or anxiety in children, particularly those who are technology-dependent, or whose activity is limited by chronic conditions. With structured evaluation and early intervention, the primary care pediatrician identifies and addresses the developmental and behavioral issues that result from exposure to prevalent psychosocial stressors.

There are special considerations regarding the use of the Portal in minors, particularly the unique issues surrounding reproductive health in adolescents and pertinent NY State laws.
A Child (birth to under 12 years old) cannot have access to their own Portal account, but their account can be enabled for proxy access (i.e. “authorized representative”) to be used by their parents or legal guardians. A parent or legal guardian may request access in person at the office. The requesting party must sign a Validation of Parental Relationship form at that time.
Adolescents (age 12 to under 18 years old) may establish their own Portal account. The adolescent themselves must have their Portal account activated in person at their doctor’s office and a separate activation code must be printed and handed directly to the adolescent with instructions that this code is for use only by the adolescent.
Proxy access for adolescents (12 to under 18 years old).
Full proxy access for an Adolescent should be established in person through direct contact with the provider’s office. Adolescents must sign a consent form to permit proxy access, including the identification of the proxy. The consent process requires an in-person discussion with staff regarding the risks and benefits of parental access to their Portal account. Proxy access is limited to parents or legal guardians.
