REDESIGNED FOR SAFETY:

COVID-19 and Your Lab Draw

COVID-19 is changing almost everything around us, but it hasn’t changed your need for safe care. UR Medicine is redesigning all of our operations with your safety as our top priority. That’s why you’ll see frequent cleaning of all surfaces, face masks on everyone in our facilities, strict social distancing policies and other steps to keep you safe. You can read more about UR Medicine’s redesign efforts at redesigned.urmc.edu.

What to expect during your visit

To keep our patients safe and minimize the number of people in the waiting room, we are utilizing a new touch free electronic sign in sheet and screening process. After signing in, you will be directed to wait in your car or an alternate location.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Proceed to the Canandaigua Medical Group entrance and use your camera phone to take a picture of the QR code on the Lab Draw Station sign at the entrance (or once in the parking lot, click here to start the check-in process).

  2. When prompted, enter your contact information and answer the screening questions. This will reserve your place in line while you wait.

  3. When we are ready to see you, you will receive a phone call and additional instructions.

What if I don’t have a cell phone?

Please proceed to the building entrance for screening.

What if people walk in after I arrive? Will I be skipped?

All patients will be seen in chronological order regardless of when they arrive. Please note that not everyone is able to wait in a car, so you may see others walk in. The screener will ensure that everyone has a safe place to wait to be seen.

How long will I need to wait in my car?

Wait times vary, but you will receive an estimated wait time when you scan the code. You will be notified as soon as it’s your turn to come in.

Can I leave and come back?

If you leave, you will lose your place in line if you’re unable to come inside after being called. If you need assistance, you may ask your screener for help.
