Gloria Karr, RN, of Rochester, recently joined Thompson Health as Director of Infection Prevention/Emergency Preparedness.
Prior to joining the clinical management team at Thompson, Karr spent more than two decades working for Catholic Health in Buffalo. From 1997 to 2003, she was Staff Development Educator for that health system, and for the past six years, she served as Infection Control Coordinator for Catholic Health. That position involved overseeing infection prevention and control at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Sisters of Charity Hospital and the St. Joseph Campus of Sisters of Charity, along with the associated ambulatory and primary care sites.
Karr, who has a master’s of science degree, is board certified in staff development and continuing education. She is also nationally certified in infection control and for the past five years has instructed monthly classes for the New York State Education Department’s Infection Control Professional Licensing Certification Program. In addition, twice each year, Karr instructs EKG technicians through the Lifelong Learning program at Trocaire College in Buffalo.
Thompson’s former Director of Infection Prevention/Emergency Preparedness, Dianne Moroz, RN, accepted a position with the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua but remains a consultant for Thompson.
