UR Medicine Thompson Health – Physicians’ Well-Being Index Survey
UR Medicine Thompson Health recognizes the pressures of modern clinical practice and the significant consequences of clinician burnout. In 2019, Thompson aligned with URMC and launched its first annual WBI survey to physicians. The survey was not conducted in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, but we are back on track in 2021!
The WBI highlights our commitment to clinician wellness. It provides immediate, individualized feedback and resources to address burnout, as well as de-identified statistical data that will help us track the overall well-being trends and gauge the success of our Wellness programs.
The survey opens June 1, 2021. Please complete your survey by July 2nd.
About the Index
Developed at the Mayo Clinic and offered in partnership with MedEd Solutions, the Well-Being Index is a validated tool for assessing burnout.
Research shows that it’s a useful screening index to identify clinicians in distress and that it can help members of our profession make changes to improve their well-being.
Physician Well-Being Index FAQ
Q: How do I take the survey?
A: Physicians will receive an invitation from Rob Scott, M.D., President of the Medical Staff and David Baum, M.D., Chief Medical Officer via an email from Heidi Durkee (Heidi_Durkee@URMC.Rochester.edu) on June 1.
Q: Who will see my scores?
A: No one other than you; personal results are completely confidential. Thompson Health will only see de-identified summary data.
Q: What will Thompson do with that data?
A: We will use it to assess the overall well-being of our physicians and develop customized Wellness programming using URMC’s and Thompson Health's extensive resource network. This data will also serve as a benchmark by which we will gauge future physician Wellness trends. We will share these results with you.
Preliminary data will be shared at the July 2021 General Staff Meeting followed by a Grand Rounds presentation on clinician burnout by Dr. Michael Privatera. SAVE THE DATE: July 27 at 6:00 p.m. at New York Kitchen.
Q: My results suggest burnout. What should I do?
A: The tool will provide you with links to local and national resources that may help you.
