Who should attend: People considering or preparing for bariatric surgery, those who have had bariatric surgery or procedure, as well as one of their support persons.
Facilitator: Linda Rowsick, RD, CD-N, will facilitate the meeting for the first 15-20 minutes. Call 585-397-8237with any questions.
Purpose: Most bariatric surgeons agree that ongoing support after bariatric surgery leads to the greatest level of success. At a support group meeting, you can surround yourself with people who understand and support your goals. This support group will give you an opportunity to discuss issues and situations from a history of obesity or that arise from surgery. A Support group can help you develop realistic expectations. Turn to a support group before and after your surgery for short-term questions and long-term camaraderie. Weight loss surgery will not immediately resolve existing emotional difficulties or heal the years of damage caused by a lifetime of being overweight.
* PLEASE NOTE: If the Canandaigua City School District has cancelled school due to inclement weather, the MONARC meeting is also canceled.
