The Cardiology Department outpatient testing area is located on the 1st floor of the hospital between the hospital’s main lobby and the Continuing Care Center.
The department has two stress testing rooms (one is located in Nuclear Medicine in Diagnostic Imaging), two outpatient echocardiography rooms and one separate room for holter and event recorder placement. The Cardiology Department has a lobby for patients to wait in, though wait times are minimal. The Cardiology Testing Department usually runs “right on time!”
Registration:
All patients must first register in the patient registration area located in the main lobby of the hospital.
Services Provided:
- Exercise Cardiac Stress Testing
- Nuclear-Cardiac Stress Testing (both treadmill and pharmacological for patients unable to walk on a treadmill)
- Stress Echocardiograms (both treadmill and pharmacological for patients unable to walk on a treadmill)
- Echocardiograms (with or without contrast)
- *TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram)
- Holter Monitor (24hr and 48hr)
- Event Recorders (30 days)
- *Tilt Table Testing

Outpatient Electrocardiograms (EKGs and ECGs)
Outpatient Electrocardiograms (EKGs and ECGs) are done by Lab personnel. EKGs and ECGs can be done Monday – Friday 7:00am until 6:00pm and Saturdays 7:30am until 11:30am. No appointment is necessary for EKGs and ECGs. All patients MUST bring their doctor's prescription with them for the test to be performed.
Accreditations/Experiential Depth
2003 the Intersocietal Commission accredited the Echocardiography Lab for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories.
All of the department’s clinical staff have obtained or are in the process of obtaining their Certified Cardiac Technician Credentials from Cardiac Credentialing International.
Thompson Health added a new type of echocardiography to its array of Cardiac diagnostic test. Contrast imagery added to a standard echocardiogram provides a clearer picture of the heart walls. The contrast dye is injected through an IV to improve the image.
